Library Lecture & Dinner – Katherine Carter

Katherine Carter
presents her new book
Churchill’s Citadel
Katherine Carter was most recently curator at Chartwell, Churchill’s much loved country home. It was at Chartwell that Churchill met with many of the civil servants, members of the military, and other allies, alarmed at the growth of Germany’s military strength and Britain’s unpreparedness. Her book, Churchill’s Citadel, tells the story of Churchill’s fight against appeasement through the unique perspective of the meetings at Chartwell. This will give new insights into the process by which Churchill was provided with the information to make his devastating attacks upon both the Baldwin and Chamberlain Governments.
Not to be missed by Churchill and Second World War enthusiasts.
