DESCRIPTION:This is an invitation-only event for clubs and societies challe
 nged in writing by the East India Club Yacht Squadron.\n\nThe Newman VC Tr
 ophy is named in honour of the East India Club’s late member Lt-Col Char
 les Newman VC who led the Commandos on the St. Nazaire Raid\, a daring ope
 ration known in Britain as the “Greatest Raid of All” in which among o
 ther things five Victoria Crosses – the highest gallantry award that can
  be conferred on a British citizen - were won in a matter of hours.\n\nCol
 onel Newman is the only member of the East India Club’s four known Victo
 ria Cross holders to be awarded the medal for action on or from water.\n\n
 The event was won in 2019 by the Chelsea Arts Club\, in 2018 by The Army &
 amp\; Navy Club\, in 2017 by East India Club Yacht Squadron and in 2016 by
  Royal Automobile Club.\n\nThe trophy will be awarded formally at a Laying
  Up Supper to be held at the East India Club\, 16 St James's Square\, Lond
 on\, with return of the trophy expected by Easter 2021.\n\nNotice of Race
