David Keating – The 1915 sinking of the SS Persia

David is the man behind the club’s memorial book in the Entrance Hall, a wealth of information about the members and staff of the four clubs that merged to form the current club, and who lost their lives. David’s knowledge and interest in the First World War is immense.

This talk looks at the controversial sinking of the SS Persia in 1915 and the loss of three club members, who they were, of the scandalous Ellie in her nightie and other passengers. Of course, there is also a mysterious maharajah and sunken treasure involved.
