10th Dec 2024
6:00 pm - 7:00 pm

Event Type

Our next meeting will take place on Tuesday 10 December, where we will be discussing France on Trial by Julian Jackson

A compelling examination of one of France’s most controversial historical figures, Marshal Philippe Pétain, and his trial for treason after World War II. Jackson, a respected historian of 20th-century France, delves into the complex legacy of Pétain, who led Vichy France in collaboration with Nazi Germany during the occupation. Known as a hero from World War I, Pétain’s role in the government that collaborated with Nazi forces during World War II led to a stunning fall from grace and a divisive postwar trial that captivated and divided France.

The meetings start at 6pm, and members and their guests can either join in person or online via Zoom.

For those joining in person, a table will be booked for the dining room. If you wish to stay for dinner then please let Matthew Pugh know by emailing here.
