SEA BASS FISHING

Chichester Harbour

Saturday 24th July 2021

Whilst the opportunity has existed to do this in exotic sun kissed locations around the globe, many of you would not have the time to do so. This has brought about using the fly around our own shores. As we are all aware sea fish are inevitably more powerful than freshwater species so the chance to go after Sea Bass in particular on a light fly rod makes for great sport. The question in the past has been the organisation of it. I am pleased to say that has been resolved through our good friend Paul Haldenwang of Salty Dog Fishing who runs just the sort of trip we want and have enjoyed for the last few years.

Paul tells me that:-

Low water. 1.02 , High water 8.05
Flowing tide is good, and we can start off with fishing from the boat then some wading on the sand and shingle islands in the harbour in the afternoon.
All rods, reels and lines included and no charge for their use. Equipment is mostly top of the range Orvis.
However chest waders and boots without studs will be required, as this is England and wet wading even in summer is likely to chill you and be uncomfortable. You will need to bring your own.
Three fisherman can fish off boat at any time, a combination then of two fly rods, one on bow,one on the stern and on mid ship with spinning rod.
He finds that anglers like to alter between the two types of fishing and gives the shoulders and arms some time to rest.

He can recommend some great local B&B and Hotels and there is some self catering accommodation. Please see his web site for details.  Alternatively there are a number of places in Chichester itself.

This weekend has been reserved by the LFC so please book direct with me.
Paul confidently predicts you will be hooked on bass fishing and the beauty and diversity of  Chichester Harbour.

Please see  Paul’s web site www.saltydogfishing.co.uk  If you want to go then I urge you to book asap if you don’t want to miss out.
