The Horse Racing section have arranged for a tour of Galloway Stud at Woburn Abbey.

The stud was originally known as Bloomsbury Stud when setup by the Duchess of Bedford, before being taken over by Stuart and Carmen Thom. Stuart previously ran Lofts Hall Stud where he won the Godolphin Stud Staff award in 2016, so has a wealth of knowledge and experience.

The setting is absolutely fantastic as it sits in the grounds of Woburn Abbey, located next to the deer park. We have been invited for a tour of the stud where Stuart will show us around, explain the workings of the stud and show us the yearlings, followed by drinks and snacks in the grounds.

Please note Galloway Stud is smaller than the likes of Juddmonte or Darley so we aren’t going to see the likes of Frankel, but it is a lovely way to spend a day and Carmen and Stuart will look after us really well. It will also be a relaxed setting for us all to socialise.

The cost of the day is £35pp which will cover the costs of drinks and a barbeque, plus a case of club wine for Carmen and Stuart as a thank you for hosting us, will be added to house accounts.
